Setting the Tone...

A wedding or commitment service is the uniting of two people under God, involving a spoken covenant and a willingness to continue to grow together. All marriages and commitment ceremonies are recorded in the church registry. United University Church exists to serve God and the community. Its use is not restricted to church members. Our Church welcomes the opportunity to assist you in creating a sacred and joyful event. However, those wishing to be joined together here should embrace our progressive policies of inclusivity, which are mentioned in paragraph one above.

Setting the Date...

Contact the Church Administrator for the availability of certain dates. Typically, a rehearsal is held on the Thursday or Friday evening before a Saturday wedding or commitment ceremony. To reserve a specific date, a $250.00 deposit is required.

Choosing the Officiant...

We invite you to request our pastor or one of our affiliate pastors to perform your service. However, if another clergy person is chosen, that officiant must sign a form noting her or his acceptance of our church's progressive policies of inclusivity. After this form is signed, a visiting clergy person may officiate in our sanctuary, and you can proceed with your service planning.

About Our Wedding/Unions Coordinator...

After you secure your date with our Church Administrator, our Wedding/Holy Unions Coordinator will contact you. We require that all couples use our Coordinator; she understands our procedures and is able to advise you on all questions that may arise. Your ceremony&including the rehearsal&at United University Church must be supervised by our Coordinator. She knows best how to plan a beautiful (as well as a safe and smooth) arriage/commitment service in our sanctuary.

About Parking at Our Church...

The entrance to our parking lot is at the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Hoover. Because our parking lot holds only 20 cars, we require that our parking lot be reserved for the bridal party, their immediate family, and vendors (florist, musicians, etc.) only. Parking on the campus of the University of Southern California can be arranged by calling USC Transportation Services at (213) 740-3575. Either you or your guests will be required to pay the USC parking fee for every car that parks on the USC campus. We recommend printing all parking information on your invitation. Also, we ask you to appoint ushers, friends or family members to supervise the church parking lot; they can assist your guests in lawful parking and in making their way to the sanctuary.

Things to Remember...

  • The couple is responsible for any and all damage to the facility or furnishings caused by wedding party, guests or vendors.
  • The pews may not be moved. The communion table, pulpit, pianos, and pastoral chairs may be moved.
  • There is a kneeling bench available, if the couple desires one.
  • All decorations must be installed immediately prior to the service and removed immediately after the service.
  • There is one dressing room available for the couple and attendants. Otherwise, please arrive dressed for the ceremony.
  • The entire service cannot last more than 90 minutes.
  • Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the building.
  • No rice, birdseed, confetti or anything else may be thrown at the couple on our premises.
  • "Drip-less" candles must be used (and not the Church's candles).
  • Flowers may not be strewn before the wedding party unless a runner is laid down beforehand. Crushed flower petals stain the sanctuary's carpet.
