Biographical information for Prof. Nicholas Garnham
Nicholas Garnham, BA ( Cambridge), is a Professor at the University of Westminster.
He founded the Communications Policy Research Conference, a yearly meeting of telecommunication researchers
within Europe, which was supported by PICT, and has been a senior editor of Media, Culture and Society, one of
the communication field's prominent journals, since its foundation in 1978. He is co-author ( with J. Bakewell) of
The Structures of Television (British Film INstitute, 1972, revised edn. 1978). His recent books are
Capitalism and Communication: Global Culture and the Economics of Information ( Sage, 1990) and ( with R. Collins
and G. Locksley) The Economics of Television( Sage, 1988).
