Community participation and Guest Investigator Programme

A Guest Investigator programme will allow substantial community involvement. A possible scheme for scheduling the observations is as follows:

• A Science Working Team will be responsible for compiling a catalogue of fields that might be observed.
• An Announcement of Opportunity, issued three years before launch, for the community to propose targets.
• Selection of fields for an optimized core programme together with secondary targets. The selection will be carried out by the Science Working Team in conjunction with an independent Target Allocation Committee.
• Announcement of Opportunity, issued two years before launch, for additional targets within the target fields of the core programme.
• Selection of targets by the Target Allocation Committee.
