Some Background Stuff
I grew up in Hollywood, California. I received my A.A., B.A. M.A., and
Ph.D degrees from the University of California at Los Angeles. My Ph.D.
is in physiological psychology. I
also studied biological sciences to the doctoral level and chemistry and
geology nearly to the baccalaureate level.
I am a professor at the Institute of Safety and Systems Management,
University of Southern California, University Park, Los Angeles, CA
90089-0021.
My main research interest is the evolution, stability/instability
features, and structural change of complex societal and environmental
systems.

I am the author of over 100 articles in refereed journals, books,
encyclopedias, conference proceedings, and other publications. Topics
include systems theory, systems management, systems analysis,
systems design, futures forecasting, policymaking, sociotechnical
systems, and person-machine systems. I have also writtten
a number of OpEd and travel articles.
I offer consulting services with regard to the proper framing of
emerging, transdisciplinary problems
and sets of intersecting problems of complex evolutionary societal,
organizational,
and environmental systems.
