Women in Biology Internet Launch Pages (www.womenbio.net)home page: Welcome!About this site: It provides a starting point for finding information for biologists who happen to be women. It is a list of bookmarks to the ample original content already available on the web. Many of the links are aimed towards women who are graduate students, postdocs, or more senior scientists, but there are also sites relevant to undergraduates or even high school students who may be contemplating a career in biology. These are intended to help women biologists with practical aspects of busy professional lives, and to provide food for thought in those quieter moments. You will find the history of women in science, aspects of science education, an extensive list of career resources for PhDs, postdocs, and beyond, and of course, information about the specific challenges women face in a sometimes chilly climate.

Words to live by:
You cannot take anything personally. You cannot bear grudges.
You must finish the day's work when the day's work is done.
You cannot get discouraged too easily. You have to take
defeat over and over again and pick up and go on. Be sure of
your facts. Argue the other side with a friend until you have
found the answer to every point which might be
brought up against you. Women who are willing to be
leaders must stand out and be shot at. More and more
they are going to do it, and more and more they
should do it.
Because I am a woman, I must make unusual efforts to succeed. If I fail, no one will say, "She doesn't have what it takes." They will say, "Women don't have what it takes."
