Abstract: We will discuss the problem of extension of characters of commutative subalgebras in the representation theory based on certain subalgebras in skew group rings. Examples include Weyl algebras, the universal enveloping algebra of the general linear Lie algebra, its Yangians etc. We will also discuss the connection of this problem with the Gelfand-Kirillov conjecture.
