Abstract: With the Grothendieck-Lefschetz trace formula, one has a dictionary between functions and l-adic sheaves. This dictionary has been very fruitful to prove non-trivial bounds for exponential sums. I will explain also how this dictionary allows us to prove a certain non-trivial equality of integrals.
