Biographical information for Prof. Michele Jackson
Michele Jackson (Ph.D., Speech Communication, Minnesota, 1994) is an
assistant professor at the University of Colorado in the Department of
Communication (Arts and Sciences) and also in the Interdisciplinary
Telecommunications Program (Engineering). Prior to this position, Jackson
served on the faculty in the Department of Communication at Florida State
University, where she helped to build a masters program in "interactive and
new communication technologies" and a 3 course undergraduate sequence in
communication and technology. While at Minnesota, she was part of the
research team developing and investigating SAMM (Software Aided Meeting
Management), an early GDSS. Jackson has contributed to University-level
initiatives integrating new communication technologies on campus at both
Florida State University and the University of Colorado. This paper
presents arguments extended in a book-length manuscript written with Steve
McDowell. Jackson's research also examines the problems of collaborative
multi-disciplinary design of communication technologies for the workplace.
