Biographical information for Dr. Oliver Boyd-Barrett
Dr. Oliver Boyd-Barrett worked with the British Open University for 25 years, contributing to distance education print and broadcast materials, chairing, examining, and teaching distance education courses. In 1994 he established and directed the MA in Mass Communications by distance education for the Center for Mass Communications Research at the University of Leicester, England, this course quickly attracted working students from across the full range of communications industries, representing over 40 countries. He is currently Associate Dean of the College of the Extended University for California State University Polytechnic, Pomona, where his responsibilities also encompass distance education activity. Dr. Boyd-Barrett is a communications scholar and has published widely in the field of international media communications. His books include: The Globalization of News (with Terhi Rantanen), The International News Agencies, Media in Global Context (with A.Sreberny-Mohammadi), Approaches to Media (Chris Newbold), Education in Democratic Spain (with Pamela O'Malley).
