Professor Geoffrey Cowan

Geoffrey Cowan, former director of the Voice of American and The International Broadcasting Bureau, is Dean of the Annenberg School for Communication. Professor Cowan has been active in almost every facet of communications -- as a communication law attorney, playwright, newspaper columnist, television talk-show host, best-selling author, award-winning teacher, and Emmy Award-winning television producer. He is author of the major biography, The People v. Clarence Darrow.

Professor Anthony Giddens

Anthony Giddens is the Director of the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is the author or editor of over thirty books. His recent books, including The Third Way (Polity Press 1998) and Beyond Left and Right (Polity Press 1994), have influenced debates about the future of democracy in many countries across the world. Frequently referred to in the UK as Tony Blair's guru, Giddens has made a strong impact on contemporary discussions of globalization.
