Education & Experience:
(Ph. D., Princeton University) Ham is currently Professor and Chair, USC since 2005; Research Associate IZA; and Visiting Scholar Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. He previously held permanent faculty member positions at Toronto, Pitt, and Ohio State, and has been a visitor at Northwestern, Penn, Princeton, and the New York Fed. He is currently an editorial board member at the Journal of Econometrics and Labour Economics, and was a previous member of the NSF Review Panel. |
Biography:
John Ham's research is in the areas of labor economics, health economics, experimental economics and econometrics. He is investigating the use of various econometric estimators and survey design in the analysis of data from laboratory experiments with Curtis Eberwein and John. Kagel. He is studying the i) labor market dynamics of disadvantaged women and the effects of welfare reform and ii) the dynamics of health insurance coverage of adults and children with Xianghong Li and Lara Shore-Sheppard. He is working on estimating intertemporal substitution elasticities in an implicit contract models with Kevin Reilly. He is working on modified versions of Hausman tests when identification is weak with Jinyong Hahn and Roger Moon. He has received several grants from the NSF and NICHD, and has published a number of papers in the American Economic Review, Econometrica, the Journal of Political Economy and the Review of Economic Studies, as well as in other good journals. |
