Tips for travelers in Greek islands!
Special Tips for windsurfers!
- Cyclads (ideal during July and August, North wind)
- Naxos (very good, almost always windy, both wave and slalom)
- Paros (very good, almost always windy, both wave and slalom)
- Santorini (extreamly beautiful island but NOT for windsurfing,
conditiond are average but one should not bother windsurfing here...)
- Sifnos (Very beautiful island, one can windsurf in average
conditions)
- Amorgos (Very beautiful island, one can windsurf in average
conditions)
- Ios (Parties, Bars, Crink and Dance, one can windsurf in average
conditions)
- Serifos (for those who don't like crowd, one can windsurf in average
conditions)
- Folegandros (for those who don't like crowd, one can windsurf in average
conditions)
- Crete (Go to the east side of the island! Almost always windy, both
wind and waves. In west part one can windsurf in average conditions.)
- Karpathos (The windiest place in Greece because of a local phenomenon.
Always windy - more than 30Knots. Not ideal for waves as they exist in the
non-windy area of the island. In the windy area one can slalom with a 3.5m sail...)
- Rodos (In the southwest part of the island there is Prasonissi, THE place
for windsurfing. One line of sand, hudge on shore waves from the one side and top-speed
slalom from the other. One can windsurf in good bump and jump conditions
next
to the city of Rhodes.)
- Corfu (Prefer it in winter. Very good with South wind, not so good with
north wind)
- North Sporades
- Skopelos (beautiful island, one can windsurf in average
conditions)
- Skyros (beautiful island, one can windsurf in average
conditions)
There are some other nice islands for windsurfing as Zakynthos (Vasiliki) or Kos but I haven't
windsurf there yet. (All Greek islands are at least nice :-)
