Despite the best efforts of the author, copyeditor, typesetter, and several proofreaders, a few mistakes will inevitably appear in the initial printing of a volume with more than 300,000 words.

Mistakes that May Affect Comprehension:

p. 19, 9 lines from the bottom. 

“buyer” should be “seller”

p. 26, 9 lines from the bottom

“she may sell the options rather than exercise them” should be “she may exercise the options rather than sell them”

p. 187, One line above Section 8.1.3.3

“futures contracts or” should be “index put option contracts or selling”

p. 281, Figure 13-1

“Best offer” and “Best bid” are reversed.  The upper line should be “Best bid (Teri)” and the lower line should be “Best Offer (Charles)”.  More generally, the figure needs to be redrawn to put the higher prices at the top and the lower prices at the bottom.

p. 284, Section 13.6.1, second paragraph, lines 6-9 

These two sentences should read:  “Dealers also may decrease their bid sizes, and raise their ask sizes to decrease their inventories.  Smaller bid sizes discourage large traders from selling to them and larger ask sizes encourage large traders to buy from them.”

p. 286, Section 13.7.2, second to last paragraph, last word

“rise” should be “fall”

p. 288, Table 13-3, under PURPOSE, 2nd line

“Encourage clients to buy” should be “Encourage clients to sell”

p. 288, Table 13-3, under TACTIC, lines 12 and 13

“Lower bid price” should be “Lower ask price”
“Raise bid size” should be “Raise ask size”

p. 288, Table 13-3, under PURPOSE, 9th line

“Encourage clients to sell” should be “Encourage clients to buy”

p. 321, 10th line from the top

“A - ( V - E )” should be “A - ( V + E )”

p. 373, sidebar, third line

“discount” should be “premium”

p. 423, third paragraph of Section 21.2.1, 3nd and 4th lines

“buyer” should be “seller” and “seller” should be buyer”

“difference” should be “average difference” and “dealers’ losses” should be “dealers’ average losses”
