CLASSES
BUAD 351. Business Economics (Undergraduate) This course develops powerful tools to understand how a market economy works, and how to make business decisions in a market economy. The student learns how to use theory to frame questions and analyze data. The foundation of the class is the body of economic knowledge called “price theory” or “microeconomics.” Click here to go to the BUAD 351 page.
FBE 652. Financial Economics I (Ph.D.) This course is a rigorous introduction to modern theories of corporate finance. It begins with foundational concepts such as M&M, and continues to important developments in the last 10 years such as internal capital markets, financial development, and corporate governance. When it comes to current research, a few topics will be pursued in depth; a comprehensive treatment of the field will not be attempted. The goal is to familiarize the student with ideas that underpin current research in corporate finance, and to bring the student close to the research frontier (in select areas) in preparation for independent research. For Fall Semester 2007, this course will be co-taught by John Matsusaka and Oguzhan Ozbas. Please note that the class is scheduled for Wednesdays, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, contrary to the listing in the USC Schedule of Classes. |
