Abstract:
An efficient subdivision algorithm is analyzed and some details of its
implementation are discussed. The algorithm is tested using data of
the bladings for an impeller in the Space Shuttle Main Engine.
We derive a general performance evaluation and concentrate on a crucial
feature of the subdivision algorithm: the stopping criterion for the surface
approximation. The largest test includes 1,100 control points and well over
1 million output points. Figures depicting the obtained surfaces are included.
