This site is designed and created by Dr. Shao-yi Sun at the University of Southern California. He is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor of East Asian Languages and Cultures and an Assistant Research Fellow at the Asia Pacific Media Center, responsible for the development of the multilingual Asian film database project: "Asian Film Connections."
Mr. Sun received his Ph.D. in East Asian Languages and Cultures from the University of Southern California in 1999. His dissertation is a seminal study on Shanghai's visual and literary culture in the 1920s and 30s. He has also coordinated the 1997 and 1998 Asian Film Tour sponsored by NETPAC/USA (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) and the Asia Pacific Media Center. Born and raised in Shanghai, China, Mr. Sun received his first MA in Modern Chinese Literature from Nanjing University in 1991 and second MA in Film Studies from the University of Southern California in 1997. He has published a number of articles and book chapters on Chinese film, literature, and cultural studies in the United States, China, and Taiwan.
