Volunteer Information

"...just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me." (Matt. 25:40)

United University Church offers numerous ways to get involved within our church community and in the greater surrounding community. Most of these activities are listed below along with their respective contacts. If you see something missing from our list, know of a different way you can help out, or have ideas for additional volunteer opportunities, please contact the church office. Want to roll up your sleeves and get to work? Join us!

Help out in the Community!

Hunger Ministries through a Community Place

UUC supports United Ministry, St. Mark's Church, and other neighborhood congregations in the maintenance of "A Community Place." Specifically, the Community Place provides healthy bag lunches... [more]

We collect food donations at every Sunday service and on the second Sunday of each month, package the food "assembly-line-style" into handy sack lunches, which are then distributed at A Community Place. To help out, bring food with you to the service, or stay after the service on the second Sunday of the month to help pack! Specifically we are looking for individual serving canned meats (e.g. vienna sausages, tuna), chips or other wrapped snacks, and canned fruit.

Help out at UUC!

Church Programs

UUC has a number of Bible studies and discussions that happen throughout the month. Our two primary programs are Bread and the Word, and Food for Thought.

Putting together the discussions, liturgies, and meals that go into each of these programs takes a lot of work. Let us know if you'd like to help in the planning and preparation of these wonderful programs!

Bread and the Word: Susan Stouffer
Food for Thought: Travis Stevens

Nurture Ministries

Among other things, Nurture Ministries is in charge of after church programs such as the First Sunday Brunch and the post-service social hour.

Let us know if you can help out by bringing food for these events, helping with set-up, or making other contributions.

Choir

Our church enjoys a lively musical program of instruments and song from around the world. Join us for rehearsal and sing in our 10:30 a.m. service... [more]

To sing with us, just show up at 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning for rehearsal. (Note: the choir is on break in June through mid-August)
