Due to low finances and high stadium fees, the Trojan Masters meet will not be held this year. Hopefully we will see you in 2009.

The Trojan Masters Track Club was organized in 1982 by Vern Wolfe, USC Track & Field coach 1963-1984, and Dr. Jim Vernon. It is sanctioned and chartered under the auspicious of the USC Recreational Sports Department (Donald Ludwig, Director).

The purpose of the TMTC is to provide an opportunity for friends of USC, whether they be partisan, alumni, students, faculty, staff, fans, current or former athletes, to support the USC T&F Team and to actively compete in friendly organized Masters age group T&F competitions. Competitions are in five-year age groups, 30 years old plus.

Membership in the TMTC is just another opportunity to be part of a proud tradition and is open to men and women of all ages. Membership becomes official upon acceptance of the application and payment of $50.00 per year dues.

Officers of the club are the president and the secretary-treasurer. Directors are the former officers. The officers organize and supervise the activities of the club and are elected by a plurality of the members votes cast in the annual elections held in November and hold office for one year.

Activities consist of support for the USC T&F Team by attendance at meets and the annual "Out of the Blocks" banquet presentation of the team, contributions from club funds to the Trojan Force, organization of training and conditioning clinics, publication of club roster, meet schedules, newsletter containing meet results and member accomplishments. PR (personal record) means more than meet placement or records in the friendly competition.

Competitions are held with other masters in meets authorized by USA T&F throughout California, Western Regional, National and International meets. The most prestigious Trojan Invitational T&F Meet is held annually in June/July at USC and is attended by some 200 plus athletes from throughout the country.

The TMTC is currently headed by Eugene "The Track Junkie" Driver. Eugene has run/coached Track & Field in the Los Angeles area since the age of 15, in 1965. He ran track for Mt. Carmel High School, where he set or tied school/league records in the 100 yd, 220 yd, and 4 x 100 relay. He then ran at L.A. Harbor College and transferred to CSULA where he qualified for the NCAA Div 100 200m, made top 10 marks in the 220 yd/200 and the 4x100, 4x220, and 4x440 relays. In 1975, he was the sprint coach at CSULA and helped to coach the original (purple) L.A. Jets age group club. He has held Master Sprint Clinics and created two towing/resistance systems called "The Speed Belt" and the "Super Speed Belt." Eugene also holds the Age "37" WR of 47.7 in the 400m.
